consultancy, advice

For more than a decade, I have advised private collectors, family offices, and corporate clients on the acquisition, sale, and stewardship of art collections. My work encompasses building collections from inception, refining and focusing established collections, developing curatorial strategies, and providing expert guidance on acquisitions and deaccessions, including negotiation and transaction management.

In recent years, I have also curated and organised exhibitions for both private and corporate clients at prestigious venues. This has involved coordinating the loan and display of significant paintings, drawings, and sculptures, working closely with collectors, institutions, and other stakeholders to ensure successful presentations.

I am regularly engaged to appraise works of art for a variety of purposes, including insurance valuations, estate and probate assessments, prospective sales, and collection reviews. My specialist knowledge encompasses 19th- and 20th-century British and European art, with particular expertise in paintings, works on paper, and sculpture, complemented by a broad understanding of other periods and disciplines.

My research practice involves rigorous investigation into the authorship, provenance, and historical context of artworks.

Over the past decade, I have identified and reattributed numerous significant works by artists including Stanley Spencer, Christopher Nevinson, Walter Sickert, David Hockney, Helene Schjerfbeck, and Sir William Nicholson. This combination of connoisseurship, scholarly research, and market knowledge enables me to provide authoritative advice and informed assessments across a wide range of collecting areas.
